Learn it while it is still early

I remember this classmate of mine, a boy, who is annoying. His name is Davis. He sometimes asks me to let him borrow my things like ball pen because he doesn't have any.
Everytime he asks me that, My mind always says "WTF are U here in school without even bringing important materials?"

He insists to let him borrow my ball pen, sometimes scotch tape, sometimes a sheet of paper, sometimes pencil.

"Please Frey... plsssssss.... plssss...Please Frey!"

and sometimes

"Please Ding.... plsssss... Please Ding!"

Whenever I'm about to say NO, he tries to convince me by giving wink to me. I'm not affected by his wink at all. His charm wouldn't work for me because his face is funny. He also moves like a drunkard having sleepy eyes, tired face.
Sometimes, his lips would slowly become like an octopus's when he faces me. How funny.

Just hearing him asking me to let him borrow my things make my inner self laugh. But I try not to let him see me laughing.

It's okay for me to let him borrow my things but not always. I want him to learn to try to be independent and not always rely on friends. I want him to learn to MOVE alone to satisfy his needs. It's because in the future, he'll never know he might be alone. So he needs to learn how to achieve this certain thing with his own capabilities and hard work at an early age.

It would be such a pity if he keeps on borrowing things from the same person when he grows up. The person will get annoyed and try to avoid him--unless if the person loves him.

By the way, his face reminds me the kid in the music video OPPA GANGNAM STYLE.

Felt sick

Since few days ago, it has been cloudy. I couldn't see blue sky. It is all covered with clouds. It's quite cold.

Yesterday, I wasn't feeling well. It started at around 10 AM. I became physically tired. My back hurt. I thought it needed to be massaged. Also my stomach hurt. Eyes and mind too. I was about to have a fever.

I think this is not about girl thing. I think it is because we travelled theough the mountains so we were like going up and down. Moreover, my father drove fast so made me dizzy. I wanted to vomit but I couldn't vomit.

Yesterday night I wished that God would heal me. It was my Christmas wish.
And after few hours, it has been healed already. I was wide awake. I got out from my room and of corz-- i immediately used the PC. I felt I was energized again.

friend

Life...

always there're ups and downs.

State of being happy is limited.

Only occurs for a certain amount of time and stops.

But that doesnt mean sadness is unlimited.

It is also the same as happiness.

Only occurs for a certain amount of time and stops.

But we tend to perceive sadness occurs longer than happiness.

Now, I'm a little bit sad for the fact that my friend is sad.
I want to help him. But sadly I can't help him so much.
I can listen to him. But until there only.
I can't help him.

But I do hope my presence makes him less hopeless.

Need to Improve Japanese Speaking!

A few days ago, I was asked by the teacher incharge to evaluate the worksheets from WAO company. While I was writing, my teacher shared something to me.
She said that next year, there will be a boy transferee from Japan who is 17 years old. The teacher was thinking of me since she thinks I know how to speak Japanese. The transferee will be staying in the school for 2 years and he must graduate.

I think what she wants to say is I should help him understand the lessons.

If it's going to be so, I have to improve my Japanese starting now! I need to speak Japanese a lot and my brain should be 1/4 Japanese. Of course, English should take 1/2 of my brain and my national language should also be 1/4 of my brain. So my goal is to learn Japanese as to how much I've learned my national languiage. I know it's going to be a challenge for me because I also have many thing to do just like studying other subjects but I know it's going to be for the betterment anyway. Learning Japanese is not a problem for me because I think I am enthusiastic to learn Japanese so just adapting the language will be a bit easy.

If I notice that my Japanese is getting improved, I'd be really happy for what I have achieved.

Coffee to keep me awake

A few days ago, I had been drinking coffee each night to make myself alert and not sleepy so that I can do and finish my homeworks and study.

By the way, the coffee is cold. I like cold coffee.

For me, the cans of coffee below are effective. The coffee kept me awake and I finished my homeworks.

I drank 5 cans of coffee. Coffee from Nestle and coffee from Pokka. It's tasty as coffee.

I was given a ball pen

Yesterday, I was given a ball pen by my friend. It's
one of the ball pens bought from Singapore by her mom. She would to like give one to me.

This pen's ink is black. When you use this to write on a paper, the horse figure will be glowing.

I like it. I'll treasure this pen.

Romeo and Juliet Script by Freya

In Verona, Sampson and Gregory (Capulet servants) complain that they will not put up with insults from the Montague family. Abram and Balthasar (Montague servants) appear and the four start quarreling.

The Montagues and Capulets are two rivalry families.

Script:

Long ago, before any of the members of the two families were born, there was a bitter past That bitter past was about who owns the land.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Montague Family: We are the richest family in this society! We have the lots of lands! No one can surpass our greatness!

When the Montague Family heard that Capulet Family had more lands than they do have from their fellow rich friends, they felt little of themselves.

Fellow rich friends: Have you heard about Capulet family having owned many lands more than U do have??

Montague: Who are they? I had better know them.

One day, the two families met and found out that one of the lands that the Capulet Family owns is actually Montague family’s land. Eventually, they were had an argument.

Montague Family: Why do you own one of my lands???

Capulet Family: (do frown facial expression)

Montague Family: Don’t U know that having just the difference of 1 land between us makes our family be in disgrace??? CURSE YOU CAPULET FAMILY

Capulet Family: It’s your fault if you didn’t claim your land as quick as we did!

The two families became rivals until to the present time. The two families avoided each other but then encountered each other again by fate.  In Verona, the Capulet servants complain that they will not put up with insults from the Montague family.

Sampson: (talking with Gregory) Hey Gregory, have U heard about what happened between our masters and the Montague before?

Gregory: (talking)Yeah I heard about that. I swear to god I will not plan anything bad about the Montague family.

But came the Montague servants and heard what they were talking about.

Abram: What are you talking about???

Balthasar: Don’t you know that it’s forbidden to talk about what happened before, U morons!

Sampson and Gregory: Haa??? (And the 2 pairs of servants from Montague Family and Capulet family quarreled and Montague family has provoked the 2 servants from Capulet Family)

However, the quarrel among the servants didn’t last for long because Lord Montague’s nephew appears and tries to break up the quarrel.

Benvolio: HEY HEY ! STOP THAT! CALM DOWN! DON’T MAKE TROUBLE!!(benvolio in between the 2 pairs of servants)

The servants were really angry at each other. But Benvolios’ effort in trying to break up the quarrel didn’t work much because Lady Capulet’s nephew appeared and picks a fight with Benvolio.

Tybalt: aaaaaaaaaahhhh( suddenly punches benvolio).

And the Benvolio had revenged on Tybalt. They fought against each other and the officers tried to stop them.

Officers: (trying to stop the 6 people from fighting) STOP THAT.

When the lord of Capulet and Montague heard the news, they started quarreling and fighting (really in trouble)

Lord Montague: What is your member doing to my member???? HE DOESN’T HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO THAT! HUH

Lord Capulet: It is not my concern and not my business!!! I, LORD CAPULET HAS DECLARED THAT WE’LL FIGHT EACH OTHER.

And the fight begins (among the family members and the people who supports them)

(really in trouble and mess)

But the prince of Verona came to stop their fighting.

Messenger to prince Escalus: My dear prince, people in the town were fighting.

Prince Escalus: Who are they?

Messenger: The Capulet and Montague Family!!

Prince Escalus went to the place where they are fighting.

Prince Escalus: WHO ARE YOU TO FIGHT WITHIN MY PLACE? CAN YOU PLEASE STOP FIGHTING? Guards! Stop them!

The people who were fighting calmed down and listened to him.

Prince Escalus: YOU TWO FAMILIES SHOULDN’T FIGHT. IF I HEAR ANOTHER NEWS OF YOU FIGHTING AGAIN, I’LL HAVE YOU SENTENCED TO DEATH!

And the the people who fought hesitantly agreed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At Montague's house, he, his wife, and Benvolio discuss how melancholy Romeo (Montague's only son) has been lately.

Lord Montague: My darling, I have encountered a fight today against the Capulets.

Lady Montague: Oh--- that’s bad. I’m sad to hear that.

Lord Montague: By the way, how is our Romeo? Did he find his perfect girl already?

Lady Montague: I don’t know… I’ll have Benvolio investigate it.

And Benvolio started to find out how has Romeo been doing lately.

Benvolio: Romeo, how are you lately?

Romeo: Well, I’m in love with a woman who promises that she’ll remain virgin forever.

Benvolio: Ohhh what’s her name?

Romeo: She’s Rosaline.

Benvolio: hmmmmmm that kind of woman is tasteless. You should try to search for another woman!

Romeo: No way.

Separately, Paris (a kinsman of the Prince of Verona) talks to Lord Capulet about wooing his daughter Juliet for marriage.

Paris: My dear lord Capulet, your daughter is as beautiful as the sun. I love her. Will you let me woo her?

Lord Capulet: hmmmm I’ll ask my daughter about that.

Lord Capulet: Daughter, the kinsman of prince Escalus asked me if it is okay to woo you. And I am okay with that. Do you agree with that?

Juliet: Father, I understand what you are saying. But I’m still too young for that, I’m 14 years old. I must wait for 2 years and I will only marry to the man whom I choose.

Lord Capulet: Hmmmmmmm

Despite of what Juliet has answered; Lord Capulet still invited Paris for a party in the evening. He has also called his servant to invite guests but the servant can't read the list so he entreats Romeo to do so.

Servant to Romeo: Hey come to the party tonight!

Romeo: Oh---- we’ll see about that.

Romeo told about that to Benvolio. When he heard about it…

Benvolio: Why don’t you accept the invitation? You’ll find good girls there and maybe your unattainable love for your Rosaline will be replaced by some beautiful girls over there…

Romeo: hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Meanwhile at Capulet's house, Lady Capulet discusses the idea of marriage to Paris with Juliet. Juliet keeps her options open. The Nurse wishes Juliet every possible happiness...

Lady Capulet: You know Juliet darling, I understand what you feel that you are young. Marrying someone whom you don’t love… I understand that. Darling, follow what your heart says.

Juliet’s Nurse: yeah I think so. When you were young, you were so carefree. Now that you’ve grown, you must decide.

Juliet: O Mother, nurse, thank you for the advices. But I don’t know what I should do. But I promise to be courteous.

Masked, Romeo, Mercutio, and Benvolio head to the Capulet party.

Romeo: (sigh)… you know, I dreamt a fearful dream of an untimely death that will result because of the evening's events.

Benvolio: haha, are you serious? That’s just a childish dream.

At Capulet's house, the Montagues attend the party (in masks), Romeo spies Juliet, and he falls in love with her.

(People are dancing, romeo notices and Juliet runs away)

Romeo: Oh what a beautiful lady! I think I have fallen for her! (runs after Juliet)

Juliet: Who are you? <3

Romeo: I’m Romeo! How about you?

Juliet: Oh I’m Juliet!

Tybalt sees Romeo and takes up arms,

Tybalt: What are you doing in here?? Huh?? Do you want war????

Juliet: No!!

Romeo: *runs away*

Lord Capulet: Tybalt! Calm down!

Tybalt: Ugghhh, I promise to have revenge on him when he comes back.

Lord Capulet attempts to calm him, though Tybalt vows to revenge Romeo's intrusion the next day.

Juliet, too, falls for Romeo, but falls into despair when her Nurse informs her Romeo is a Montague, as does Romeo when he learns Juliet is a Capulet.

Juliet: I think I have fallen for him. Whose family is he, I wonder.

Nurse: O Lady Juliet, he is from the Montague Family! His family is our enemy!

Juliet: Oh what a despair!

And…

Romeo: I wonder who is she. She is from Capulet family! What a despair.

Informer: She is from the Capulet Family! Your families are enemies!

Romeo: Oh what a despair!

While leaving the party, Romeo hides in the orchard while Mercutio and Benvolio call for him to come out of hiding and go home with them; yet he will not.

Mercutio and Benvolio: (whispering) Romeo, Romeo  come out! We’ll be found out by that guy again!

Romeo: No, I will not! I need to see Juliet again! I don’t care I she’s from Capulet Family!

Mercution and Benvolio: Fine! We’ll come out and go ahead!

After they leave, Romeo appears and speaks to Juliet under her window

Romeo: But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the East, and Juliet is the sun!"

Juliet: Oh Romeo, I have fallen for you!

By and by they swear their love to one another. The two decide to marry.

Romeo: Oh Juliet, I’ll marry you.

Juliet: Oh, Romeo <3…

Juliet: I’ll send you a messenger tomorrow in the morning to arrange our wedding plans.

Romeo: Oh Juliet <3

Having stayed up all night, Romeo visits Friar Lawrence's cell and tells him of this new love for Juliet.

Romeo: Lawrence, yesterday, I’ve found a new girl that I’m really in loved with.  And I want you to marry us.

Friar Lawrence: But What about Rosaline?? I can’t agree with that easily.

Although Lawrence is critical at first, Romeo eventually convinces him to marry them.

Romeo:Lawrence, she’s the one whom I really want and I want to marry her.

Friar Lawrence: Hmmm I’ll try about that

Meanwhile, Tybalt has sent the montagues a letter challenging Romeo to a duel.

Tybalt: I shall have revenge on him for the sudden intrusion!hmph! (sends letter to the messenger)

Give this to Romeo!

Messenger: As  you wish

In the street…

Benvolio: Mercutio, you know what, Romeo didn’t come home.

Mercutio: Ohhh

(and Romeo appears)

Benvolio: Why didn’t you come home ???

Romeo: ugghhh (turns back)

Mercutio: I guess something happened between you and Juliet… hihihi

Juliet's nurse and servant Peter appear and Romeo tells her to tell Juliet to go to the Friar's cell that afternoon to be married.

Romeo: Good thing you guys are here!

Juliet’s servants: Why?

Romeo: I have something to ask of you.

Servants: Yes, what is that?

Romeo: Tell Juliet to go to the Friar’s cell so that we can be married.

Nurse: OK I got it.

The Nurse returns to Juliet and, though she skirts around the message, she finally tells Juliet the wonderful news.

Nurse: O Lady Juliet! Romeo has a message for you.

Juliet: Oh what is it?

Nurse: He told me that you are to go to the Friar’s cell so that you two can get married.

Juliet: Ohhh

Soon, at the Friar's cell, Lawrence marries Romeo and Juliet

Friar Lawrence to Romeo and Juliet: In the name of the father, and of the son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Friar Lawrence: Romeo, will you take Juliet  as your wife?

Romeo: Yes I do.

Friar Lawrence: Juliet will you take Romeo as your husband?

Juliet: Yes I do.

Friar Lawrence: You are now married.

and Romeo plans to visit Juliet's bedroom that evening. The Nurse brings Romeo "cords" or ropes which will allow Romeo to climb into Juliet's bedchamber as her husband later that night...

At the street, Benvolio and Mercutio encounter Tybalt and Petruchio, leading to Tybalt and Mercutio fighting since Tybalt tries to pick a fight with Romeo, but he refuses.

Benvolio & Mercutio: Oh what brought you here?

Tybalt and Petruchio: I’m here to pick a fight with Romeo about the intrusion.

Benvolio & Mercutio: What did you say???

Romeo: I don’t want to fight!

Tybalt: Damn you!

Mercutio: Damn you too!  (fight)

Romeo: You fools stop it! (continue fighting)

Romeo tries to break up the fight, but Tybalt slays Mercutio under Romeo's arm, then Tybalt flees.

As Mercutio dies, he declares "A plague on both your houses," since he is only a friend of Romeo's and not his kinsmen.

Mercutio: A plague on both your houses ( and dies)

When Benvolio informs Romeo that Mercutio is dead, Romeo seeks out, fights, and slays Tybalt in revenge.

Benvolio: (touches Mercutio) He’s dead.

Romeo: Mercutio!!! My friend!!!! Grrrrrrrr aahhhhhhhh watch out Tybalt!!! (runs after tybalt and kills tybalt)

Benvolio convinces Romeo to flee.

Benvolio: Romeo, you should run! Hide!

The prince appears and Benvolio explains all to him, at which the Prince exiles Romeo for slaying Tybalt.

Prince: What happened????

Benvolio: Sir, it was like this… Tybalt first killed Mercution and then Romeo got mad and had revenge on Tybalt.

Prince: Well then! Romeo should get out from this country.

At the Capulet's orchard, Juliet waits for Romeo when her Nurse appears and informs her of Mercutio and Tybalt's deaths, and Romeo's banishment.

Nurse: O lady Juliet! Have you heard what happened??

Juliet: Oh, what is it??

Nurse: Mercutio and Tybalt died! Tybalt killed Mercutio and for revenge, Romeo killed Tybalt! And Romeo will be exiled!

Juliet: Ohhh >< I’m worried for my huband!

Juliet learns of Romeo killing Tybalt and despite being torn between her loyalty for her family and Romeo, mourns her husband Romeo's banishment.

At the Friar's cell, he informs Romeo of the Prince's edict of banishment, putting him into despair.

Friar: The Prince has declared that you will be exiled because of what you did!

Romeo: I would rather be dead than banished.

The Nurse arrives and tells Romeo that Juliet is sad too, but forgives Romeo.

Nurse: Romeo, your wife Juliet is sad. But she forgives what you did.

Still, Romeo pulls a dagger and tries to kill himself, but the Friar stops him and tells him to stay the night with Juliet, then flee to Mantua.

Romeo: I should be dead! (pulls out a dagger)

Friar: Stop trying to act hopeless! Stay the night with Juliet,  comfort her, then flee to Mantua!

In Juliet's bedroom, Romeo says a tearful goodbye to Juliet.

Romeo: Oh Juliet, I’ll be gone soon.

Juliet: Oh Romeo (cries)

After he leaves, Lady Capulet appears and, while discussing Tybalt's death, states she will send a henchman to mantua to kill Romeo (though she never does).

Lady Capulet: Juliet, I will send a henchman to mantua to kill Romeo. And you will be married with Paris.

Juliet tells her parents she will not marry,

Juliet: No! I am not marrying him! I don’t love him! Mother, you said that I should follow my heart!

Lady Capulet: But you must marry him!

Juliet: Liar! (cries) I will never ever marry with him!

Lord Capulet: Juliet! Don’t be such a hard headed! My commands will be so!

Juliet: Nurse??

Nurse: I’m sorry Juliet, but I do agree with what your parents have said. Youshould marry with Paris.

Juliet: (cries)

In private, Juliet decides to no longer trust the nurse and vows to kill herself if the Friar cannot find a way to save her from marrying Paris.

Juliet: I shall disappear in this world if Friar Lawrence can’t save me from marrying Paris.!

At Friar Lawrence's cell, Paris informs the Friar of his upcoming wedding to Juliet.

Paris: Hello Father. I’m here to tell you of my upcoming wedding to Juliet.

Friar Lawrence: Oh (shocked)

When Juliet arrives to see the Friar, Paris politely leaves.

The Friar, hearing Juliet threaten suicide, tells her of a "distilled liquor" she can take to fake death.

Juliet: I’m so sad if I can’t be with Romeo’s sad. I don’t want to be with Paris. I’m so sad. I plan to kill myself if I can’t be by Romeo’s side.

Friar Lawrence: Oh no. Juliet, my dear sweetheart, I have a distilled liquor that you can take to fake death.

Juliet: oh

Friar Lawrence: It will keep you asleep and seemingly dead for 42 hours during which you can be placed in the Capulet tomb. Then, when you’ll be awake, Romeo can be there waiting for you to take to Mantua.

And I will send Friar John to Mantua with an explanatory letter for Romeo.

Juliet: Oh Friar, I shall take this vial for me to be able to be together with Romeo forever. Thank you very much. We owe you a lot.

Juliet returns to her father and apologizes for refusing to marry, causing her dad to move the wedding up to the next morning (two days early).

Juliet: Father, I’m sorry that I refused to marry Paris. I’ll marry him.

Lord Capulet: Good that you have made up your mind. I’ll move the wedding up to the next morning.

In her bedroom, Juliet sends her mother and nurse away, then, after much worrying over the future, she drinks the vial of medicine and sleeps.

Juliet: Mother, nurse, can you please leave me alone for a while? Can you give me a time to think things over?

Lady Capulet: Okay, but darling, I’m glad that you have made up your mind.

Juliet: (when they were gone, she sighed) I shall drink this vial. (sleeps)

Later in the early morning, all feverishly prepare for the wedding and Capulet sends the Nurse to wake Juliet.

Lord Capulet: Nurse, can you wake Juliet up?

Nurse: As you wish

The Nurse wails upon finding Juliet "dead", summoning the others to find her and mourn.

Nurse: haa haa haa haa Juliet is dead!!

Lady Capulet and Lord Capulet: what!!!!???  (went to see Juliet being dead)

After seeing, they cried.

Lady Capulet: Oh Juliettt!!!! Why did you do this?!!!?? If only we have listened to you, then this woudn’t be happening!

The Friar instructs all to prepare Juliet for her funeral.

All: *cries*

In Mantua, Romeo's servant Balthasar arrives and tells Romeo that Juliet is dead.

Balthasar: Sir! Your wife, Juliet is dead!

Romeo: What!? I must go and see her!

Romeo vows to see Juliet in her tomb and poison himself there, buying the poison from a poor Apothecary who illegally sells it to Romeo only because he (the Apothecary) needs the money.

Romeo: When I see dear Juliet in her tomb, I shall poison myself. And I die with her.!

At Lawrence's cell, Friar John reports he could not deliver the letter to Romeo since he (John) got stuck in a quarantined house while searching for Romeo.

John: Oh no… I may not be able to deliver the report to Romeo ><

Friar Lawrence heads to the cemetery with a crowbar.

At the tomb, Paris and his page arrive and Paris mourns Juliet's death.

Paris: Oh Juliet, why did you die so early?

Paris hides when he hears Romeo and Balthasar approach.

Romeo orders Balthasar to leave him alone, no matter what he hears.

Romeo: Can you please give me a time to be alone with her?

When Romeo opens the tomb, Paris steps out and tries to stop him by provoking him to fight.

Pari: Who are you to open the tomb!?? (fight)

Romeo entreats Paris to simply walk away and not fight, but Paris forces Romeo to fight him, resulting in Romeo slaying Paris.

Romeo: (killing Paris) damn you.

In sorrow, Romeo lays Paris in the tomb, while Paris' page secretly leaves to call the watch.

Romeo finds Juliet and mourns her death, then drinks his poison and dies.

Romeo: O My love, why did you leave me?... could your death be a sign that we should live together in the next life?............... *drinks poison* *and dies*

Outside the tomb, Friar Lawrence arrives and meets Balthasar who tells the Friar that Romeo has been in the tomb for one half hour.

Balthasar: Friar! Romeo has been in the tomb for an hour and a half!

Lawrence enters the tomb and finds Romeo and Paris dead.

Friar Lawrence: *shocked*

Juliet then awakes and spots Romeo.

Juliet: haa *shocked* *cries* Oh Romeo

The Friar, upon hearing noises outside flees, leaving Juliet with Romeo. Juliet tries to kill herself with Romeo's poison, but can find none, either in the vial or on Romeo's lips.

Juliet: *cries out loud*

In desperation, she stabs herself with Romeo's dagger.

Juliet: *gulp*

The watch arrives, having found Balthasar and the Friar. The Prince and Lord and Lady Capulet arrive and learn Paris, Romeo, and Juliet are dead (amazingly to them, Juliet seems to have been alive, and then newly dead again). Lord Montague arrives and reports that his wife has died from grief over Romeo's exile, then learns himself of Romeo's death. Capulet and Montague make peace and swear to never fight again. They vow to build solid gold statues of Romeo and Juliet and place them side by side so all can remember their plight.

My prayer to God

Prayer

Dear God, thank you for the things u have given to us. Like The people we meet everyday who make us smile, happy, inspired, laugh and sad. I'm really glad to have friends such as these for I think theyre some of the the people who help shape our future.

Help us lord to appreciate simple things that you have given to us and also accept what U have given to us, bad or good, we know that even so, it will lead to our good future which U planned before we were conceived. We know that It's up to us to do good or to do bad but help us lord to always do good especially in times of difficulties. Help us avoid temptation.

I'm sorry Lord if we made you unhappy for some things that we have done. I'm sorry for disobeying some of your commandments. I'm so sorry if sometimes I'm not sincere saying the prayer U taught us, I'm sorry if I hadn't done well here on earth.

Help us also lord, to listen well to the teacher and may the teacher be guided with the holy spirit when teaching us.

Lord, we praise you for your glory. You are beyond our imagination.
You are our only light.
You are the source of the good things happening on earth.
You are love.
You are the main reason why we do good things.

Thank you very much.
as a student, intelligent or not, I hope we'll remain by your side always. Thank you for giving me a time to pray to U. Amen.

My Group's Theoretical Background

Theoretical Background

Psychology: Factors which May Make Students Eager to Learn in School

For some time, the researchers have wondered why and what makes some students become eager to learn in school.  What the researchers have wondered may probably be a question that is unanswered for some, particularly for people in the Philippines.

A factor that is considered to be one of the main factors which may make the students eager to learn in school by the researchers is MOTIVATION. It is relevant to the research (Factors Which May Make Students Eager to Learn in School).

According to Wikipedia, motivation is the psychological feature that arouses an organism to action toward a desired goal and elicits, controls, and sustains certain goal directed behaviors.

Motives can be divided into two types: external and internal. Internal motives are considered as the needs that every human being experience, while external indicate the presence of specific situations where these needs arise.

Intrinsic motivation refers to motivation that is driven by an interest or enjoyment in the task itself, and exists within the individual rather than relying on any external pressure. Intrinsic motivation is based on taking pleasure in an activity rather than working towards an external reward. Intrinsic motivation has been studied since the early 1970s.

Students who are intrinsically motivated are more likely to engage in the task willingly as well as work to improve their skills, which will increase their capabilities. Students are likely to be intrinsically motivated if they:

  • attribute their educational results to factors under their own control, also known as autonomy,
  • believe they have the skill that will allow them to be effective agents in reaching desired goals (i.e. the results are not determined by luck),
  • are interested in mastering a topic, rather than just rote-learning to achieve good grades.

Extrinsic motivation refers to the performance of an activity in order to attain an outcome, which then contradicts intrinsic motivation. It is widely believed that motivation performs two functions. The first is often referred as to the energetic activation component of the motivation construct. The second is directed at a specific behavior and makes reference to the orientation directional component. Extrinsic motivation comes from outside of the individual. Common extrinsic motivations are rewards like money and grades, and threat of punishment.
The theory that supports the division of motivation into 2 parts which is intrinsic and extrinsic is the incentive theory.
A reward, tangible or intangible, is presented after the occurrence of an action (i.e. behavior) with the intent to cause the behavior to occur again. This is done by associating positive meaning to the behavior. Studies show that if the person receives the reward immediately, the effect is greater, and decreases as duration lengthens. Repetitive action-reward combination can cause the action to become habit. Motivation comes from two sources: oneself, and other people.

The researchers simply explain relatedly to the research (Factors which may make students eager to learn in school) that motivation is something that energizes, direct, and sustains behaviors and that intrinsic motivation is the internal desires to perform a particular task, students do certain activities because it gives them pleasure, develops a particular skill, or it’s morally the right thing to do. Thus, intrinsically motivated students are bound to do much better in classroom activities, because they are willing and eager to learn new material. Their learning experience is more meaningful, and they go deeper into the subject to fully understand it.

Another theory that is related to the research is the Facilitation theory (the humanist approach).

Carl Rogers and others have developed the theory of facilitative learning. The basic premise of the theory is that learning will occur by the educator acting as a facilitator, that is by establishing an atmosphere in which learners feel comfortable to consider new ideas and are not threatened by external factors (Laird 1985.)

Other characteristics of the theory include:

  • a belief that human beings have a natural eagerness to learn,
  • there is some resistance to, and unpleasant consequences of, giving up what is currently held to be true,
  • the most significant learning involves changing one's concept of oneself.

Facilitative teachers are:

  • less protective of their constructs and beliefs than other teachers,
  • more able to listen to learners, especially to their feelings,
  • inclined to pay as much attention to their relationship with learners as to the content of the course,
  • apt to accept feedback, both positive and negative and to use it as constructive insight into themselves and their behavior.

Learners:

  • are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning,
  • provide much of the input for the learning which occurs through their insights and experiences,
  • are encouraged to consider that the most valuable evaluation is self-evaluation and that learning needs to focus on factors that contribute to solving significant problems or achieving significant results.

ohhhh

My heart is beating so fast when I read the messages last year.
I believe i'm still a kid.
But my heart beats so fast when I read it.
With that fact, am I still considered as a kid?

I dont like it

I dont like it when my father goes back to the drinking place with his colleagues.
I don't like it when he goes home very late.
I don't like it when he goes home at 4:00 AM.
I really don't like it. If he doesn't go home, it affects my studies.

I don't like him to stay so close with his collegues.
I like him to stay with his family always.

I don't like him not entrusting something to his own daughter, coz it affects my studies.

I don't like those things that I mentioned. Because it greatly affects my status in studying.

I also don't like it when he doesn't reply to my important messages. He keeps on drinking with his collegues. I dont like it. It makes me sad.

No Class in the Afternoon

From 1 PM to 5 PM, I was sleeping. I had to sleep because it is the main reason why we don't have classes in the afternoon for us to rest from yesterday's and morning's strenuous activity.

After some time from 5:00, it has been continuously raining. The temperature is 25 degrees celsius. I think today's raining is not so much heavy so it's quite okay.

I slept for 5 hours and I think it's still not enough. My body and mind need more rest.

Tomorrow there will be classes again and today I have nothing to worry about because I am already finished making the project in Math.

Book that hasn't been read by me

This book was given 2 years ago by my mother's friend from Canada. It serves as a birthday present, christmas present to me and years that had passed by that she hadn't given me gifts for my birthday and christmas present.

When I read the first page of the book, I found it boring so I stopped reading it. Even until now I don't continue to read it because I always find it boring. It is entitled "Lessons in Love" by Emily Franklin.

I guess people like me who aren't so interested in American love novelsfind it boring--- unless if the novel is made by Japanese and the content is all about Japanese lovers.
